Success

Success
Success is a tricky word. It drums up images of one being accomplished, secure and having it all together. This image of success typically impresses in one’s mind of having it all or having the most. It can be evident in all areas of life from being successful in business or with one’s personal goals. But, in ministry, I have discovered that the most valuable and satisfying measurement of success is whether or not someone took a step closer to Christ as a result of something happening within the scope of my ministry. That step could be a gigantic as calling Christ savior for the first time or could be as simple as someone offering a smile to a stranger. It’s within this framework that success is all-powerful and very fulfilling. It’s a broad definition in a world of success driven people but, its broadness allows each and every movement of God in one’s life to be celebrated. This definition, by mere nature, discourages one from finding many failures in one’s spiritual journey. Because of its capacity for celebrating each and every step of one’s journey, it creates freedom for one to relish and admire the uniqueness of God’s fingerprint on and work in people’s lives.

I first saw Christ's love in the interest you showed not only in my life but in the lives of everyone in the youth group, I saw Christ's love in your relationship with your wife, and later in your love for your children. It was your honesty, transparency, and willingness to be vulnerable that helped to strengthen my own desire to have a genuine faith. Christ used your life to strengthen mine.

"The goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart, and a good conscience, and a sincere faith."
1 Timothy 1:5

Consider yourself successful my friend.
