Small Group

Don't faint, it's another post from me...

I don't know if you all have visited Dawn's Blog lately, but she posted about our vacation that we took last week. One of the pictures showed a huge group of us who were on our vacation together. The majority of that group is part of our discipleship group that meets each week.

I'm excited about tonight's gathering as we are moving forward on a project that we've been dreaming about for about two years now. When Dawn and I resigned from the church we had a dream that we could be more involved in meeting the needs of the people in Defiance. We asked the local social agencies what the biggest unmet need was and was told that every month in our town about 60-70 family units are in need of short term housing. They said that people need a place to stay for about 2 weeks to get back on their feet from different problems such as job loss, getting out of prision, divorce, break ups with boyfriend, abuse etc.

Tonight, we begin moving in the supplies for the 1 bedroom apartment that we have secured to use specifically for this need. Our group is providing this free to anyone who needs it. We will be working through the agencies and providing this fully furnished apartment to them.

I'm so proud of the hearts and willingness of this group of people of whom I call friends. Be praying for us that this can truly be a ministry to those it touches. Also, be praying for us that we can expand this ministry. I'm hoping that we can soon have another apartment to use for this purpose.

Blessings,
scott

That's great Scott. Most of us just notice needs and do nothing about them. Way to put it to action!

This is really exciting. I am anxious to hear how this affects so many people in the community that may have gone unnoticed.

I appreciate you Scott.
